Catherine E. "Katie" Pianko, 85, of Humphreys, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. She was born May 24, 1932, in Humphreys, a daughter of the late Ignatius W. and Antionette (Staschak) Pianko. Prior to retirement, she worked at Powerex in Youngwood. She was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United, and the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Calumet. Katie loved to bake and was the main chef for family events. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Joseph Pianko and his wife Peg. She is survived by three sisters, Mary Ann Pianko, of Humphreys, Ann Gumbita and husband Jerry and Ginny Trout and husband George, all of Unity Township; a brother, Thomas Pianko and wife Patty, of Loyalhanna; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Prayers begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Florian Catholic Church with the Rev. John A. Sedlak as celebrant.
