David J. Valerio, Sr., 88, of Greensburg, died Saturday, December 2, 2017 in his home.  He was born January 4, 1929 in Greensburg, a son of the late Joseph and Santa (Petrella) Valerio.  Prior to retirement he had been employed by Cement Masons Local #526 working at Westmoreland Construction and Dick Corporation.  He was an Army Veteran serving in the Korean War.  David was a member of St. Paul Parish, Greensburg, Hempfield Democrat Club, Greensburg Jaycees, Greensburg Lions Club and Hempfield Sewage Authority.  He was also a member of SNPJ of Carbon, Young Voters Club, Carbon Volunteer Fire Department and Fort Allen Volunteer Fire Department.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Valerio on January 18, 2016; three brothers, Joseph, Eli and Daniel Valerio; and three sisters, Ann Leone, Antoinette Kley, and Florence Palangio.  He is survived by four sons and their families, Dr. David J. Jr. and wife, Franciene (Rice) Valerio, of Jeannette, and their three children, Christopher, Joshua and Amanda Aguilera (Luis); Gerard P. and wife, Denise (Walker) Valerio, of Greensburg, and their two children, Sarah Valerio and Nicholas Valerio (Vanessa); Joseph J. Valerio and Michelle Briggs, of Greensburg, and Joseph’s two children, Brandon and Victoria Valerio; and Scott S. and wife Laura (Branthoover) Valerio, of Crabtree, and their two children, Luciano and Santa Olivia Valerio.  Additionally, David is survived by 12 great-grandchildren and by his sister, Sophie Nardizzi and husband Richard, of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Paul Parish, Greensburg.  Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.  www.bachafh.com
