Ralph S. Hemminger, 102, of Unity Township, died Friday, July 15, 2016, at his home. He was born May 20, 1914, in Unity Township, a son of the late Jonas and Lottie (Ludwig) Hemminger. He was an Army veteran of World War I, having served in Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge and D-Day. Prior to retirement he worked at the former Westmoreland Hardware Co., Greensburg. He was a member of Hempfield Church of Christ and Dryridge Hunt Club, and social member of Dryridge VFD. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Claire Rial (McFarland) Hemminger; his brother, Raymond Hemminger; two sisters, Mary Weaver and Loretta Rugh; and a stepsister, Ruth King. He is survived by his son, Ralph W. Hemminger Jr. and wife, Jo Ann, of Unity Township; two grandsons, Kenneth R., of Unity Township, and Gary W. Hemminger and his fiancee, Jen, of Plum; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Michael A. Hazelton officiating.
