Violet K. Steel, 80, of Pleasant Unity, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Loyalhanna Care Center, Derry Township. She was born April 21, 1936, in Hempfield Township, a daughter of the late John S. and Ella (Davis) Baum. Violet was a member of Pleasant Unity United Methodist Church, Donegal American Legion Post 941 Auxiliary, and Trauger Firemen's Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jabez Steel Jr.; and her companion, Frank Hall. She is survived by her brother, Paul Baum, and wife, Patricia, of Unity Township; three sisters, Alice Scekeres, of Pleasant Unity, Karen Babick, and husband, Richard, of Monessen, and Kathy Freeman, and husband, William, of Greensburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to the time of her funeral service at 7 p.m. Monday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, with the Rev.
