Dr. Jesse Neil, D.C. Obituary

Dr. Jesse B. Neil, D.C., 99, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018.  He was born October 27, 1919 in Fort Peck, Montana, a son of the late William H. and Mary (Moen) Neil, of San Jose, Calif.  He graduated from Roseburg High School, Roseburg, Oregon, Saint Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa, and the Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.  Upon graduation, he completed post-graduate courses at the Oakland Chiropractic College in Oakland, Calif.  After moving to Greensburg, he attended Seton Hill College where he earned a certificate in human physiology.  He was a member of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Society, American Chiropractic Association, and the International Chiropractic Association.  He was a past member of the Westmoreland County Chiropractic Association, of which he served as past president and vice president, the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association District 1, and served as chairman of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Insurance Committee.  In 1956, he was awarded the Chiropractor of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Society.  While in practice, he volunteered his services to the Greensburg Central Catholic Athletic Dept. and the Saint Vincent Bearcats football team.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps prior to the outbreak of World War II and served as an instructor on the small-arms range at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif.  He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral for 68 years, Saint Luke Society of the Diocese of Greensburg, Marine Corps League Greater Greensburg Detachment #834, American Legion Post #981, and a life member of Disabled American Veterans.  He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football teams and was a passionate animal rights supporter.  He loved to sing and the challenge of fixing anything, home or automotive, for any friend or relative that needed a helping hand, living by the Marine Corps motto “Always Faithful” every day to his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and forever remembered for his unceasing kindness, compassion and generosity of time and spirit.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, William M. Neil, of San Francisco, Calif., and Dr. Archie C. Neil of San Jose, Calif. He is survived by his loving wife, Carmella (Ranieri) Neil, of 67 years; his son, David A. Neil; his daughter, Patricia A. Neil; and “the joys of his life,” granddaughters, Calli-Marie and Alessandra Neil; constant companion rescued poodle, Bella; all of Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.  People speak of that “big Montana sky.”  To his family, friends, and anyone fortunate enough to have met him along his journey, Jesse’s heart was as big and bright and beautiful as that Montana sky.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Monday and Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  Prayers will begin at 9:00 AM Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 9:30 AM in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg.  Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either the Greater Greensburg Marine Corps League Detachment #834, the Humane Society of Westmoreland County, or the Disabled American Veterans.  www.bachafh.com
