Ernest A. Shedlock, Jr.

Ernest A. Shedlock, Jr., of West Newton, formerly of Connellsville, peacefully ended his earthly journey on June 25, 2018.  Left to honor and cherish his memory are his daughter, Erika Shedlock; sister, Mary Lee Younkin; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Janey Shedlock; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Elkin, uncle and aunt, Bill and Maryann Staines; nephews and nieces, Joey Acey, Kirk Elkin, Markie Shedlock, Jerry Younkin, Christie DeWitt, and Ashley Williams; numerous cousins, including David Staines – who was by Ernie’s side until the very end; and lifelong friend, Tony Lavigna.  Ernie was the owner of Alois Painting and Decorating, a company to which he truly devoted his heart and soul.  His years in business led him to acquire many long-lasting friendships, which he deeply treasured.  Just as he faithfully served his family and friends, Ernie was proud to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps.  In eternity, Ernie will be joyfully reunited with his wife, Madonna Shedlock; parents, Ernest and Margaret Shedlock; brothers, Chris Shedlock and Shaun Shedlock; brother-in-law, Jerry Younkin; and godparents, Willie Shedlock and Marion Battle.  In Ernie’s final moments, he was lovingly surrounded by his daughter and his “adopted children,” Nichole Slavin, Matt Yarkovich, and Justin “Rambo” Leeman.  Ernie’s family and friends sincerely thank the staff of Redstone at Home, in particular, Molly and Jen, for their excellent care and compassion.  A tremendous amount of gratitude is also extended to Dr. James Lim for his many years of devotion; nobody could have asked for a better doctor.  Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Ernie’s life at a funeral mass on Friday, June 29 at 10 AM in St. Edward Catholic Church, Herminie.  LEO M.
