Howard E. Piper, 64, of Greensburg, died Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born December 10, 1953 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late John H. and Leona (Backstrom) Piper. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg. He was a former member of the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Hose Co. #8. He was a member and past president of Greensburg Kiwanis Club, a 1971 graduate of Greensburg Salem High School and Montefiore Hospital School of Radiology. He was a former acting director of Westmoreland County Blind Association. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Mary Lou (Lucchetti) Piper; two sons, Chad J. Piper of Greensburg and Gregory A. Piper of Uniontown and his fiancé Mary Catherine Shimko; a brother Gary Piper and his wife Dixie of Brookville; a sister, Janet Hoch and her husband Michael of Jeannette; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. A private family interment service will be held in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park. A public memorial service will be announced at a later date. LEO M.
