James E. Bittinger, 92, of Southwest Greensburg, died Friday, November 23, 2018 in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. He was born September 11, 1926 in Greensburg, a son of the late Ervin and Ethal (Smith) Bittinger. Prior to retirement he had been a salesman for Rexal Supply. Jim served on the Southwest Greensburg Borough Council and presently served on the board for the Greater Greensburg Sewage Authority. He was also a member of the former South Greensburg Lions Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian “Marie” (Coval) Bittinger on August 1, 2000; his daughter, Linda McBride; and his son-in-law, George Boehme. He is survived by his daughter, Lee Boehme, of South Greensburg; two grandsons, Alex Gaskey (Sarah), of Murrysville, and Nicholas McBride (Jill), of Curwensville; three great-grandchildren, Zoey, Gavin and Jack; his sister, Lois Karaffa, of North Huntington; his sister-in-law, Helen Saccardi, of Plum; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 4 PM Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg where a funeral service will begin at 4 PM with the Rev. John M. Smaligo officiating. Private interment will take place in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society. www.bachafh.com
