Joanne Donnelly Lozier, 87, of Greensburg, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, from complications of a brain bleed and pneumonia. Joanne was a 1950 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, was class valedictorian, and a 1953 graduate of the West Penn School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse by profession. She married her high school sweetheart, William Ernest Lozier, in 1955, the week after he graduated from West Point Military Academy. That union began a 64-year adventure, leading them and their growing family across the country and around the world as the Army chose their path. It was a life Joanne would not have traded for anything, as she made many friends, from Ambassadors to Generals to neighbors, and she cherished them all. Joanne volunteered with the American Red Cross, Westmoreland Hospital, was active with the St. Benedict Church Choir and the Mt. Pleasant Women's Club. Joanne was the daughter of the late John Patrick Donnelly and Francis Hanse Donnelly, of Mt. Pleasant. She was predeceased by a son, Paul Robert Lozier; and her two loving sisters, Margaret "Peg" Donnelly and Francis "Fran" Donnelly Lipps Wujs. She is survived by her husband, Bill; five children, William John Lozier and Rose, of Florence, N.J., Beaver County District Attorney David James Lozier and Beth, of Chippewa Township, Amy Lynn Lozier, of Kansas City, Marianne Lozier Sowell and Samuel, of Harrison City, and Linda Ellen Lozier, of Greensburg; five grandchildren, John Pelham Adams, of Burlington, Vt., Katherine Anne Lozier, of Philadelphia, Sarah Ellen Lozier, of Chippewa Township, Rebecca Grace Lozier, of Chippewa Township, and David James Kephart, of Kansas City; as well as her good friend and brother-in-law, James Copeland Lozie,r of Greensburg. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Benedict Catholic Church, Marguerite, with the Rev. Daniel L. Blout as celebrant. Please go directly to the church.
