Nicholas Rebick Obituary

Nicholas G. Rebick, 74, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.  He was born September 16, 1943 in Greensburg, a son of the late Nicholas and Pearl Rose (Massina) Rebick.  He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg.  He was also a member of Alpha Gamma Phi Fraternity, PSERS, National Association of Secondary School Principals, and the Youngwood Sportsman’s Association.  Nick received a Bachelor of Science in education from Clarion University, a Master of arts from West Virginia University and a secondary school certificate.  He started his career when he was hired by Hempfield Area School District in 1965 teaching mathematics at Harrold Junior High School.  He was later principal at Stanwood Junior High School, Wendover Junior High school, and ended his career as assistant principal at Hempfield Senior High School.  Nick also worked as a mentor for student teachers at Seton Hill University.  He played baseball and football in high school  and was a Boy Scout, receiving the Order of the Arrow.  He loved to participate in biking, swimming, jogging, reading and hunting with his dogs.  He loved visiting with his daughter in Philadelphia.  He loved his grandsons, who were the light of his life.  He loved watching their sport activities.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Ida Rebick; brother-in-law, David Maine; and several aunts and uncles.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dianne L. (Martinko) Rebick; two daughters, Andrea Hoak and husband Rich and Elaine Rebick; two grandsons, Richard John Hoak, III and Jacob Nicholas Hoak; and his brother Louis Rebick.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  Prayers will begin at 9:00 AM Friday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 9:30 AM in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg.  Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.  www.bachafh.com
