Ruth Janet MacDonald, 98, of Greensburg, died Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. She was born June 6, 1920 in North Braddock, a daughter of the late Alexander and Ruth Amelia (Guttridge) Whitehead. Janet was a beautician and had also worked for years at the Turnpike Laundromat, Irwin. She had attended Church of the Brethren, Southwest Greensburg. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. MacDonald in 1971. She is survived by her son, Wayne R. MacDonald, of Irwin; three daughters, Sharon Wassel and husband Donald, of Greensburg, Ruthanne K. Critchlow and husband Mark, of Marienville, and Dale S. Struzzi and husband Thomas, of Jeannette; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11 AM Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor A. Harrison Smith officiating. Private interment will be in Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Westmoreland Manor for their kind and compassionate care.
