Donald Fordyce Obituary

Donald J. Fordyce, 60, of Southwest (Hecla), died Monday, January 22, 2024 at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.  He was born July 7, 1963 in Latrobe, a son of Don Fordyce of Latrobe and the late Flora K. (Baker) Fordyce.  Prior to his illness he worked at CZ Surveys & Land Development, LLC, West Newton and previously worked at John’s Truck Parts and Interstate Parts both in Wyano, Elby’s Restaurant in Greensburg and Jioio’s and Hardy’s Pub both in Latrobe.  Don had a passion for walleye fishing on Lake Erie with his Captain and special fishing buddy Jim, enjoyed hunting and loved to cook.  He was a member of Hecla Sportsmen’s Club, Polish Falcons Nest 147 in Mt. Pleasant, Hecla Firemen’s Club and the Visitation Bowling League.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, George Hood, sister-in-law, Bonnie (Clifford) Daniels and brother-in-law, Randy Hood.  In addition to his father he is survived by his wife, Tammy L. (Hood) Fordyce, his son, Jason Fordyce (Ashleigh) of Mt. Pleasant, his daughter, Jessica Fordyce at home, his granddaughter, Gracie Fordyce, a sister, Barbara A. Bumar (Chad) of Latrobe, his mother-in-law, Garnet McClintock of Mammoth, 2 sister-in-laws, Donna Fullman (James) of Hecla and Karen Parker-Hood of Mt. Pleasant and several nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 3 to 7 PM Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday with The Rev. Roger D. Roadman officiating.  The family would like to thank Hillman Cancer Center and the staff at Independence Health System for their care.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hecla Vol. Fire Dept., PO Box 213, Southwest, PA  15685.
