Genevieve (Zappone) Panigall

Genevieve (Zappone) Panigall, 88, of Greensburg, died Friday, May 7, 2021 in Weatherwood Manor, Greensburg.  She was born November 19, 1932 in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Michael and Jennie (DeBone) Zappone.  She was a 1953 graduate of Latrobe Nursing School.  Prior to retirement she had been a registered nurse at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, and also volunteered in the hospital pastoral services.  She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg, where she was involved in many activities, including the Rosary Altar Society.  She was a member of the Westmoreland Area Nurses Association and the Cercemaggiore Association.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel “Ace” Panigall Jr.  She is survived by three sons, Tom Panigall (Nancy Johnson), of Virginia Beach, Va., Jerry Panigall (Lu Ann), of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Joe Panigall (Sheila), of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Arron, Kristin, Alison, Kari (Sam), Gianna, and Landon; brothers and sisters, Mary Fry, Vincent Zappone, Flora D’Amato (Joseph), Nick Zappone (Connie), and Michael Zappone (Mary); her daughter-in-law and gym buddy, Amy; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 1011 Mount Pleasant Road, Greensburg.  Everyone please go directly to the church.  Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.  Please be prepared to adhere to all current health guidelines, including face masks and social distancing.  The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Weatherwood Manor, and also to Tamika.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Westmoreland Area Nurses Association, c/o Monica Rosatti, 1021 Carbon Rd., Greensburg, PA 15601.  www.bachafh.com
