Jerome M. Todaro, 96, of South Greensburg, died Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. He was born December 31, 1926, in Greensburg, a son of the late Michael and Freda (Brookler) Todaro. He was a Coast Guard veteran serving with the Merchant Marines. Prior to retirement he had been Superintendent of General Motors Fisher Body Plant, West Mifflin. He was a member of St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, South Greensburg. Jerome was a life member of the South Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the South Greensburg Lions Club, and a charter member of the Board of Directors for Mutual Aid Ambulance Service. He was a former mayor of South Greensburg, and also served on the school board for Greensburg Salem School District. Jerome enjoyed his numerous fishing trips to Tilden Lake, Ontario, Canada. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia D. (Danser) Todaro; two sisters, his twin, Marie Todaro and Grace Gasparato; four brothers, Anthony, Alfred, James and Michael Todaro; and his daughter-in-law, Beverly Todaro. He is survived by five sons, James Todaro (Beverly), David Todaro (April), Dennis Todaro, Jerome Todaro, Jr., and Ronald Todaro (Charlene); seven grandchildren, Cheri, Alyssa, Shawnna, Jessica, Justin, Stephen, and Theresa; seven great-grandchildren, Lilly, Jon, Jenna, Michael, Jack, Bria, and Brooks; his sister, Jennie Todaro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 PM Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Friday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, South Greensburg. Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum with Full Military Honors accorded by the VFW Post No. 33, Greensburg Honor Guard. The South Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a memorial service at 5:30 PM Thursday in the funeral home.
