Larry Long, 74, of Greensburg, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1946, in Greensburg, a son of the late Lamech and Mary Ann (Brodesky) Long. Larry was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of VFW Post No. 33, Greensburg, and its Honor Guard. He was also a member of McCormick Dorman VFW Post No. 694, Dormont. He was a tool and die foreman at Robertshaw Controls and various other factories. Larry was extremely talented; he was a genius. He was a brilliant carpenter, a creative artist and craftsman. Larry was an avid golfer, amazing chef and a lover of wildlife, nature, gardening and music. He played guitar, loved Bob Dylan and sports, especially the Pirates, even though they always ticked him off. Larry was sarcastic and known for his quick one liners. "I love you from the bottom of my defibrillator." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Long. He is survived by his loving daughter and primary caregiver, Bethany N. Long and her boyfriend, Paul Whalen; his brother, Tom Long (Darlene); his supportive ex-wife, Elizabeth Long; and several nieces and nephews. There will not be a visitation per Larry's request.
