Roger DeAngelo Obituary

Roger DeAngelo, a longtime resident of Greensburg, died January 4, 2021 at 80 years old from COVID.  He was born October 30, 1940 in Johnsonburg to the late Peter and Sandy DeAngelo.  Roger had a long successful career in the grocery business, starting as a bag boy at the local grocery store.  He graduated high school in 1958 and enlisted in the Navy, where he trained to be a butcher and cook.  After years working for Super Duper chain of grocery stores, he was hired as a meat merchandizer for Olean Wholesale in Western New York.  He moved to Greensburg where he began his longest stint in the industry with Charley Brothers and was later Super Value.  Roger had directed over $1 billion of perishable goods within the tristate area and retired at 66 due to complications of a stroke.  He enjoyed work but also loved travel, watching Steeler football and cooking.  He will be remembered as a generous person who loved his family.  He was predeceased by his brother Kenny DeAngelo.  He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Mary Ann (Pecora) DeAngelo; brothers, Donald and James DeAngelo, and sister Debra Warmbrodt; five children, Cari Radogna, Roger DeAngelo, Don DeAngelo, Kim Hall, and Wanda-Jean Hahn; two stepchildren; Mark Henry, and Michelle Henry; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  Roger was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church, Greensburg.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.  LEO M.
