Thomas "Tom" Myers Obituary

Thomas Arthur “Tom” Myers, 71, of Greensburg, went home to our Lord on December 26, 2020. His daughters Molly and Emily and loving wife of 48 years Antoinette were with him at Shadyside Hospital after succumbing to Covid-19. He is survived by wife, Antoinette (nee Risoli); daughters, Mary (Noel) Becker, Molly (Casey) Braffet, Laura (Derek) Wise and Emily (Bethany); grandchildren, Mia, Katherine, Patrick, Alex, Christopher, Genevieve, and Marilyn; five younger siblings, Anne High, Robert, James, Jane Dodd and Elizabeth Humphrey; and many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by parents, Mary Anne (Woodmancy) and Charles. Tom was born in Lakewood, OH, grew up in Michigan and is a graduate of Bloomfield Hills High School. He attended Pennsylvania State University and earned a degree in hospitality. Always a hard worker, Tom spent a summer working in a coal mine and started his career with Ramada opening hotels around the country, meeting his future wife doing just that in New Jersey. He spent the majority of his professional career in sales at MSA Safety Inc. headquartered in Pittsburgh and made his home in Greensburg for 44 years. Tom was a devout Catholic and active member of his parish of St. Paul and the Knights of Columbus Council #1480. He was passionate about the pro-life movement. Volunteer efforts in his younger years include as a firefighter with Hose Company #3 in Greensburg, and later with the Westmoreland County Food Bank, Eucharistic minister in church and to the sick, and as a founding member of the greeting ministry for St. Paul. Tom was warm and personable, shaking hands and making introductions everywhere he went. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life, and he was delighted in achievements big and small. A constant cheerleader for the loved ones in his life, “Gramps” was always there for life events and could be relied upon to organize, well, anything. Tom had a strong love for his country and was a caretaker of his mother-in-law and father during their later years. Tom enjoyed eating out, especially breakfast, and fly fishing with his dad, brothers, and extended family as a member of Rockwell Springs Trout Club. He had a smile and kind word for everyone he met. The family is eternally grateful for the outpouring of prayers and support when Tom was fighting Covid and now that he has gone home to his creator. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, January 3rd at the LEO M.
