Hazel F. (Fait) Adams

Hazel F. Adams, 93, of Greensburg, died Saturday, June 18, 2016 in Greensburg Care Center. She was born December 23, 1922 in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Winfield W. and Ellen L. (Martz) Fait. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Manor American Legion and was a founding member and past president of the Greensburg Chapter of the Pilot Club International. As a historian at heart, Hazel began her working career as owner of her own public stenographer and notary public business. She went on to be the director of the Westmoreland County Bureau of Travel and Tourism and later the Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau. She hosted bus tours for Lincoln Coach Lines, did lectures on the history and pioneer life in Western Pennsylvania.  She co-founded the Westmoreland County Arts and Heritage Festival at Twin Lakes Park. She was instrumental in organizing the Old Tyme Fiddlers Contest and was a founding member of the Westmoreland County Historical Society with emphasis on excavation and rebuilding of Old Hannastown. Her other passion in life was making quilts for family and friends.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 5 brothers: James, Howard, Charles, Walter and Richard Fait. She is survived by her children: Lewis E. Adams, of Irwin; Mark E. Adams and his wife, Barbara of Atlanta, GA; Margaret “Peggy” Sterner, of Greensburg; Dana M. George and her husband Dennis, of Greensburg and Janey C. Adams, of Wagga Wagga, NSW; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM Thursday in First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg with Pastor Jerry Nuernberger, officiating.
